Planning

Planning Permission is asking if you can do a certain piece of building work. It will be granted (possibly subject to certain conditions) or refused.

Solar PV systems sometimes require planning permission. Those retro-fitted to pitched roofs of residential properties are often permitted development, which means you do not need planning permission.  In some areas of the country such as designated areas, permitted development rights are more restricted.

Solar PV systems in the following situations may require planning permission:

  • ·         Commercial/agricultural buildings
  • ·         Flat roof systems
  • ·         Ground mounted systems
  • ·         Conservation areas
  • ·         Listed buildings
  • ·         National parks
  • ·         SSSI’s
  • ·         World Heritage sites

For more information on planning permission for solar pv panels visit the Planning Portal.

If you are unsure about your situation with regards to planning, we would be happy to advise you.

Current Generation can provide a full comprehensive planning service from as little as £300 + VAT and fees. Please note charges may vary depending on the complexity of the system/application.
